Call for Expressions of Interest:
The History Department and the Cultural Resource Management Program of the University of Victoria are pleased to announce a new endeavour: the Chinese Canadian Artifact Project (CCAP).
In association with the B.C. Museums Association, CCAP aims to compile a publicly accessible database of Chinese Canadian artifacts held by local and regional museums in B.C., outside of the city centres of Vancouver and Victoria. The 10-month, $85,000 project will provide financial or in-kind assistance to 12 local museums/archives in the province with significant Chinese Canadian holdings. Professors John Price and Zhongping Chen in UVIC's Department of History will lead CCAP, in association with Dr. Tusa Shea of the Cultural Resource Management Project (UVIC Continuing Education). The research is funded by the B.C. Ministry of International Trade, Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism as part of the Chinese Historical Legacy Initiative announced last year. The project is currently soliciting expressions of interest from local and regional museums and archives with Chinese Canadian holdings. Small grants or in-kind assistance will be available to participating museums.
To participate in the project or for further information please contact: ccap at uvic.ca<mailto:ccap at uvic.ca>
