Last Friday, the North Vancouver Museum & Archives became the fortunate recipient of significant funding for its new Museum project.
A contribution of $2.2 million from the Federal Government to help create the new Museum at The Shipyards was announced by North Vancouver MP Andrew Saxton. This generous gift ensures that 100% of the building's capital costs are now covered by government funding (government of Canada and the City of North Vancouver). "This significant federal funding will help ensure that the Pipe Shop at the Shipyards, an historic piece of North Vancouver's history, will be preserved for the enjoyment of all who visit the new Museum." Andrew Saxton.
More information about the project may be found on the NVMA website (nvma.ca), on the Campaign page<http://nvma.ca/new-museum-2/introduction/> as well as the New Museum page New Museum for the North Shore - NVMA<http://nvma.ca/new-museum-2/new-museum/>.
The NVMA now has more work ahead - as we move toward opening the new Museum at The Shipyards in 2017 - Canada's 150th Anniversary.
