[BCMA] Municipal support for Museums

On an overall basis across BC, based on data collected by the BC Arts Council, local government support represents, on average, more than a quarter of a museum’s annual income.

Please note that this includes cash grants, property tax or rent exemptions as well as in-kind support that is given a dollar value in a museum’s financial statements each year, such as building or grounds maintenance.

Hello,

Our board of directors is wondering how much if any, municipal support Museums in small communities receive as a yearly grant, or is the Museum funded by the municipality? Our community is approximately 2500 and we would like to compare notes on this with similarly sized Villages.
