Greetings,
The Clinton Museum would also be interested in learning how other museums in smaller communities manage to keep the doors open. We are happy to share our info. Clinton is a community of 650 people. Our museum has been operated by volunteers since 1956. Most of our income comes from visitor donations.
We have been supported by an annual grant from the Village of Clinton. The last few years that grant has been for $5000/year. The Village leases Clinton’s 1892 schoolhouse to the Museum Society for $1 per year; and also grants us an exemption on property taxes.

Subject: [BCMA] Municipal support for Museums
Hello,
Our board of directors is wondering how much if any, municipal support Museums in small communities receive as a yearly grant, or is the Museum funded by the municipality? Our community is approximately 2500 and we would like to compare notes on this with similarly sized Villages.
Thanks in advance to any who are willing to share their information.
Diana
