To Our Colleagues in the Arts, Heritage, and Museum Fields in B.C.,

The Cultural Management Programs at UVic have been developed to help people involved with museums, heritage, and the arts to expand their knowledge base, and to keep current in their fields.  With the flexible options of participating as a credit or non-credit student, it's easy to join in our courses. In the spirit of sharing information about the arts and learning opportunities for people involved in arts and cultural management, we hope that you will pass on the enclosed information to your colleagues, volunteers, and members.

We are very pleased to present the following 6-day courses for Spring 2015:

HA488H Indigeneity and the Museum, Feb 16-21, Victoria, BC (Registration deadline is Monday Jan 19th!)
Join co-instructors France Trépanier and Chris Creighton-Kelly to examine the connections between the worlds of "Indigeneity" and "Museum." HA488K Exhibition Design and Installation, Feb 23-28, Victoria, BC (Registration deadline is Monday Jan 26th!)

HA489H Cultural Tourism, March 30-April 4, Victoria BC
[Steven Thorne]Whether you manage or market a museum, gallery, festival, heritage attraction or other cultural experience, or work for an economic development agency or destination marketing organization, this course offers marketing tools and development strategies that will help you succeed. Special emphasis will be placed on the theory and practice of "place-based" cultural tourism in the context of destination planning.

HA489D Practical Building Conservation, April 13-18, Victoria, BC
[Ben Gourley]Join co-instructors Gordon Macdonald and Ben Gourley on site at Coal Island to explore practical conservation techniques and put those skills into practice. Course content will encourage participants to develop a holistic approach to conservation in which materials and skills are considered within the context of the broader building traditions to which they belong.
