BCMA has received this email from Viking Air with a request to forward it to
the museum and gallery community on their behalf. Please respond through
the listserv.

Viking Air, in Sidney, BC, has just celebrated the 50th anniversary of our
twin otter aircraft. With that, comes quite a few thoughts on our historical
records.
I have been tasked with protecting these records. 1000's upon 1000's of
drawings. Aisles and aisles of handwritten design binders. All of these
records are many decades old. Many dating back earlier than our first twin
otter flight 50 years ago.
Although we have a level of protection, there's always opportunity to
improve.

The reason I'm emailing is because I'm in search for old map cabinets to
store various drawings. I'm under the impression that, as the museums
upgrade their storage, there are often old map cabinets with no home.
It may be possible that Viking could buy some of these cabinets from your
various members.

Would it be possible to reach out to the various museum members to see if
they have map cabinets they'd like to sell?

Although our artifacts may not be old on a global scale, our collection is
quite important to us.

Thank you for your time,
Kevin
