As part of the Road to 2017, the Government of Canada is marking major
milestones and battles of the First and Second World Wars. The World War
Commemorations Community Fund is a year-long funding initiative that begins
on April 1, 2015, and ends March 31, 2016. Funding is available in the form
of grants and contributions for national and community-based commemorative
and educational projects that foster a greater awareness and understanding
among Canadians of the importance of the World Wars in our country's

Who is eligible to receive funding?
Eligible funding recipients include:
* Canadian not-for-profit organizations, including corporations, trusts,
cooperatives, unincorporated associations and First Nation organizations.
* Canadian business corporations, including partnerships, trusts and
joint ventures where projects are non-commercial in nature.
* Canadian schools.
* Canadian municipal, provincial and territorial governments and their
institutions.
Federal departments, agencies and institutions, private individuals and
political parties are not eligible under the World War Commemorations
Community Fund.
What kind of projects are planned?
Examples of eligible projects under the World War Commemorations Community
Fund include:
Commemorative activities and events
Historical re-enactments
Exhibits
Plaques and monuments
Ceremonies for site dedications
Interpretive programming and tours
Documentary films
Learning materials
Educational websites
Theatrical or musical performances
Large-scale artwork projects or contests
Ineligible Projects
Fairs and festivals. Lobbying or advocacy activities. Major infrastructure
projects such as the building of roads and buildings. Ongoing activities
such as the publication of regular issues of newsletters, magazines and
periodicals. Projects that are designed for fundraising purposes, or that
generate advantage or profit. Any activity taking place outside Canada.
How is the program funded?
The World War Commemorations Community Fund is administered by the
Department of Canadian Heritage. The Fund is designed to support community
level projects delivered in 2015-16.
