The Wells Historical Society, which operates the Wells Museum in beautiful
downtown Wells, British Columbia, has a summer position available for a student
that will provide exciting opportunities to learn about history in a unique
environment.

Job Title: Museum Coordinator
Hourly pay rate: $14.00 plus 4% holiday pay, 35 hours/week
Dates: May 11 to August 14 (14 weeks)

Description: This is a summer student position that will provide practical, hands on experience for a
student. Responsibilities will include operating the Wells Museum during the summer months,
providing education programs and tours for local students and classes that visit, and providing
orientation and information for visitors. Additional tasks are care of collections including cleaning of
exhibits and storage areas, cataloguing new material, interviewing informants, and building and grounds
maintenance, sales of merchandise and memberships, organization of local museum events, and
assisting in fundraising.
Candidates must, as per the requirements set out by the Canada Summer Jobs program:
* be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
* have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to
school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
* be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been
conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
* be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation
and regulations.
Preference given to students enrolled in history, material culture, conservation and/or museum related
studies. Students who are visible minorities are encouraged to apply.
