MSA Museum hosts lifewriting seminar

Aspiring memoirists and family historians can kick-start the process at an
all-day lifewriting seminar on May 23rd, 2015, 9:00-4:00 p.m., at the MSA
Museum (Trethewey House) in Abbotsford. Participants will identify
strategies for completing the four-step writing process, explore the
principles of creative non-fiction, and gain insights into thorny issues
such as how much truth to tell and dealing with trauma. The seminar is
co-sponsored by the MSA Museum Society and local writer / editor Philip
Sherwood and costs $60.00.

"This is the third time that we are offering the seminar," said Kelly
Railton, Executive Director of the MSA Museum Society. "It's been a great
success. Many Fraser Valley residents want to write their stories, and this
seminar equips them with the necessary skills to get going."

Free parking is available for the event at the Museum at 2313 Ware Street.
Railton emphasizes that seating is limited and advance registration is
mandatory. For more information and to register and receive a course
outline, contact the Museum at 604.853.0313 or by email at
info at msamuseum.ca, or visit www.msamuseum.ca.

Leading the May 23rd seminar is Abbotsford writer / editor / personal
historian Philip Sherwood, whose company lifewriters.ca specialises in
helping individuals, families, organisations, and communities tell and
preserve their stories in book form.

The seminar is one of several services that the MSA Museum offers to
aspiring memoirists, lifewriters, and family historians. These include free
information sessions, free one-on-one consultations, a list of
do-it-yourself resources, and several fee-based services. A three-hour
seminar on interviewing family members and friends is scheduled for June
27th.
