The international University of British Columbia (UBC) Centre for Cultural Planning and Development is offering a new session of an online professional development workshop, Cultural Entrepreneurship, starting November 19. Don't miss the opportunity to learn from international experts and expand your professional practice. Three scheduled online sessions. Thu Nov 19, Nov 26 & Dec 3 from 11am-1pm (Pacific Time)

This online workshop focuses on the essence, uniqueness and importance of cultural entrepreneurship in the overall strategic management and policy-making process. Identify key issues and suggest strategic solutions for the development of cultural and creative organizations, as well as from the perspective of cultural policy-making. This online workshop includes practical case studies from around the world and examines critical questions such as:

*         How can cultural planners, managers, and policy-makers promote a proper environment in which cultural entrepreneurship can flourish?

*         What strategies do cultural entrepreneurs need in order to manage a start-up creative enterprise in a sustainable mode?

*         What is the role of strategic alliances, networking, collaboration and partnership in the entrepreneurial practice in the cultural sector?

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Lidia Varbanova has over 20 years of professional experience as a consultant, researcher and lecturer in more than 50 countries. She focuses on strategy, entrepreneurship, management, online technologies and organizational development and change, with special emphasis on arts, culture and creative industries. Her most recent publication is Strategic Management in the Arts (2013).

This workshop can be taken individually for professional development, or applied to the UBC Certificate in Cultural Planning - an international professional learning program delivered 100% online.
