Hello Pamela,
I think we may have met at a Past Perfect workshop in Ontario, but that's off topic. I don't have any good resources but I would be interested in some resources that are sent along as backup since we're going to be developing an education from here on out and I envision some resistance.
On an unofficial note a couple things pop into mind. One thing I've seen in the past is having an option on the donation form that should the donations not be accepted they can go to the education collection, if deemed worthy. This kind of deals with one issue right at the door and I think it's great, you're not worrying about paperwork or donors as they've already agreed. With record keeping I've seen places include education items in their collections database, prefixed or noted in some way, and others use a separate database. Combining the databases is handy as everything is in one spot but you have to be careful that items are clearly indicated as educational collection items. Beyond that in my opinion the most important thing is to have strong policies in place as to use/storage of permanent vs. education collection items and keep it enforced. If the permanent collection is used for educational purposes now, especially hands on ones, you'll probably have a few people angry but they'll have to learn it's what's best for the collection.

Hello Everyone,
I'm looking into education collections. Does anyone know of any good resources? I'm looking for anything related: policies, procedures, what to include, use, record systems, pros/cons etc.
Thank you!
