Ceramic and Painting Artist in Residence opens exhibition at the Vernon
Community Arts Centre, Friday, September 25, 2015, 5 – 7 pm



The pilot project of the *Ceram-AiR *ceramics program, is a new initiative
of the Caetani Cultural Centre in partnership with the Arts Council of the
North Okanagan, located at the Vernon Community Art Centre.



*Ceram-AiR* welcomes artist Gabrielle Strong. Strong who has been working in
the VCAC ceramic studio facilities for the past 4 months is new to the
Vernon community. Strong has made use of the great ceramics facilities at
the Arts Centre, and has given a workshop in painting.



Having spent 5 years at sea, Strong is coming to the Okanagan to reconnect
to the land; to search for the same kind of connection she has cultivated to
water and reflections. Working both in painting and ceramics, Strong is a r
ecent graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and is making
her home base the North Okanagan.



As part of her residency, Strong will be exhibiting her work at the Vernon
Community Arts Centre for about 3 weeks, and the public is welcome to an
opening reception held at the VCAC gallery, from 5 – 7 pm on Friday, September
25th. Strong will also give a short talk and walk about, discussing her
past work and present projects. This event is free and open to the public,
and is a part of Culture Days celebrations.
