Education Programs Coordinator - Job Posting
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, built in 1894 in the historic village of
Steveston, is a living monument to the individuals involved in BC’s
fishing industry. The National Historic Site is operated by the Gulf of
Georgia Cannery Society, a non-profit society. Working in partnership with
Parks Canada, the Society works to preserve the history of the BC fishing
industry and present it in an engaging and relevant way. The site is open
to the public year round and welcomes 55,000 people each year from across
the Lower Mainland and around the world.
Under the supervision of the Manager of Audience Engagement, the Education
Programs Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of
high quality group programming for children and adults offered by the Gulf
of Georgia Cannery Society.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate booking of group programs including scheduling
personnel
· Deliver educational programs and tours preferably in English and
French
· Develop, maintain and evaluate educational programming for
elementary, secondary and post-secondary school groups, youth and adults
learning English, preschool classes and senior groups
· Coordinate interpreter and volunteer training for educational
programs
· Oversee the delivery of outreach activities related to education
programming
· Provide reports related to educational programs
· Assist with program promotion to schools and group organizations
· Assist with the selection, evaluation and recognition of
interpretive staff

Skills:
· Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and
work experience.
· Experience in developing educational programs for children, youth
and/or adults.
· Experience in delivering programs to children.
· Understanding of basic marketing principles.
· Experience in customer service.
· Experience working with volunteers.
· Fluency in English and very strong French language skills
required.
· Experience working with English as an Additional language students
(children and/or adult) an asset.
· Knowledge of BC Ministry of Education curriculum an asset.
Hours: 40 hours/week Monday to Friday
