‘Language Cafe & Living Books ' Outdoor Potluck Event

*Devloping the art of language in Lake Country through community

Language Cafe: The Language Cafe is an opportunity to gather with community
members and share conversations in various languages. Come to chat about
the weather in Spanish or marvel at the food in Sign Language. The Language
Cafe lets you practice a language you are learning or dust off your mother
tongue. Select a flag to place on your table, that table’s conversation
becomes the language of the country it represents and invites others to
join you.

Living Books: Meanwhile, tables will be set aside for 'living books'. Our
interpretation is based on 'Living Libraries' which have been used since
2001 to create dialogue, promote understanding, and reduce prejudice. As
part of our Language Cafe it will be a chance to hear stories from those
who lived them first-hand. These ‘human books’ will be available for
visitors to meet with for up to 10 minutes each over a cup of tea. A
living, breathing book you can ask questions or just simply listen.

**Potluck*: Bring a plate of food to share and get a discount on Ticket
price. Bring a dish from your childhood, your favourite country or your
family's most treasured recipe book.

Full ticket price is $20/ or discounted price when you bring food is $10 -
