[BCMA] Announcement of closure

Dear BCMA members,

The HMCS ALBERNI Museum and Memorial has received official notification that its month to month tenancy with the Comox Centre Mall has been terminated effective September 30 2016.  HAMM is currently looking for a new facility to house the museum in the Comox Valley, though adequate space is very expensive and storage facilities are in extreme short supply.  

As it appears at this time, with our current exhibit of WAR BRIDES: ONE WAY PASSAGE commitment running through September 15th, we are considering packing up the museum portion late August for either moving to a new location or storage and running only the exhibit through September 15th with removal of final fixtures the last two weeks of September.

Anyone wishing to see HAMM as it is now is urged to visit before the end of July before we begin to slowly return items on loan to the museum and begin subtle packing for transport.

Any words of encouragement to us or our community during this time of transition would be greatly appreciated.

We also stress that we harbour no ill will to the new owners of the mall, nor the new businesses that will be replacing the museum site in the mall.  There have been some local ramifications directed at the mall management and we do not support this kind of negative action.  We prefer that any effort in support of our museum and this Canadian War Memorial be directed both in emotional and financial support be directed to finding us a new "forever home".
