[BCMA] Deaccessioning Workshop and AABC Conference Registration Reminder

Colleagues – a reminder that registration is now open for the Archives
Association of British Columbia’s 2016 annual workshop and conference
that will be held April 14-15, 2016 in Vancouver.
We are offering a new, 1 day workshop: “From Donation to Deaccession,”
with instructor Lisa Glandt, Coordinator, AABC Education and Advisory
Services.
The workshop will review how to build a strong policy framework so that
archival donations start off on the right footing once they arrive at
your institution. It will then discuss how to implement a deaccessioning
program and the stages of reappraisal and disposal. The workshop will
include discussion of: Developing a "donation checklist" that includes
Deed of Gift, Donor questionnaire, Accession Record, Appraisal Report,
Condition Report
Donor relationships
How to create a deaccessioning policy
"Reappraisal" and determining deaccessioning criteria
Assessing your collection and preparing items for Deaccessioning
Methods of disposal
Public trust and ethics
You can register for the workshop with or separate from the conference.
