*4 Summer Student 2016 job positions at the Canmore Museum & Geoscience 
Centre, Canmore, AB *

(14 weeks, 37.5 hrs/week, pending funding approval)

*1.**NWMP Barracks Site Attendant **- *The NWMP Barracks is a provincial 
historic site. The student will oversee day-to-day operations of the 
site and gift shop and assist with children’s programs and special 
events offered at the Barracks. Ideal for a student in Tourism, 
Communications, Interpretative Studies, Education or Museum Studies. An 
interest in Canadian or Alberta history an asset.

*2.**Museum Programs Assistant **- *The student will work closely with 
the Programs Coordinator assisting to prepare and deliver K-7 school 
programs, summer children’s programs, interpretive tours and special 
events. Suitable for a student in Education, Earth Science, History or 
Museum Programming. Must have experience working with children.

*3.**Museum Attendant/Marketing Support**- *The student will oversee the 
front of house operations at a busy regional museum, including greeting 
visitors, selling admissions, operating the gift shop, managing tour 
bookings, sharing information with visitors about the museum and local 
area, and assisting with event planning and admin and marketing support. 
Suitable for a student in Tourism, Communications, Business, 
Cultural/Heritage/Museum Management, Marketing, or Event Planning.

*4.**Collection’s Assistant - Heritage **- *The student will assist the 
Collections Manager in the care and documenting of the museum 
collections. The job is multi-faceted and includes the care, 
preservation, organization, documentation and information management of 
artifacts, archival materials, maps, and historical photographs. Strong 
organizational skills and the ability to focus for long periods of time 
with great attention to detail are required.Ideal for a student in 
Museum Studies familiar with professional Canadian museum standards for 
collections.An interest in western Canadian history an asset.
