Press Release
The Haida Gwaii Museum is pleased to announce the launching of our first
website -haidagwaiimuseum.ca
The design of our website was inspired by the essence of Haida Gwaii and
one of the most prominent Northwest Coast First Nations cultures and
collections. We worked with /Trapeze/ /Communication Inc/. and were able
to create an inspiring and holistic experience through effectively
showcasing Haida's historical and contemporary art and position the
museum as a world-class cultural entity.
In order to showcase our vast collection, the design needed to be clean
and complementary. A natural colour palette was adopted to compliment
the materials used in many of the artifacts being exhibited at our
Museum and work in unison with the other visual elements used in the
design. Stunning photography was used to not only show the collection,
the beautiful building and the untouched Haida Gwaii, but also the
people who come from all over the world to visit the museum in on a
daily basis. The typography used is clean, modern and also complementary
to the style of the website. It brings history and contemporary design
together, to work as an effective communication and marketing tool.
The Haida Gwaii Museum website was built using the Content Management
System (CMS) platform WordPress. It was built from "mobile up" and is
fully responsive to enhance the user experience no matter what device
the visitor is viewing the website on.
Working collaboratively with the very passionate people we were able to
create an extremely welcoming and informative website that effectively
communicates the value and significance of visiting our important museum.
