[BCMA] [public service announcement] New Finalist in Applied Arts Category of the Okanagan Arts Awards being presented May 28th

*New Finalist in Applied Arts Category of the Okanagan Arts Awards being
presented May 28th*

For Immediate Release // Kelowna, BC


Interdisciplinary artist Cortnee Chulo has been added to the Finalists in
the Applied Arts category for the 9th Annual Okanagan Arts Awards. Chulo is
an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in integrated media, and more
specifically videography. She is a recent grad of the BFA program at UBC
Okanagan. Her makeup work falls into two fields, natural beauty makeup
often for weddings and grad, and SFX makeup for photoshoots, events, film
and halloween.

This change-up comes after learning that Missy MacKintosh is ineligible to
be a finalist in this category. All nominees and finalists for the Okanagan
Arts Awards must reside in the Central Okanagan. MacKintosh’s place of
residence in Salmon Arm.

Mackintosh’s achievements in Applied Arts in 2015 are impressive,
including:  designing and creating the makeup looks for Opera Kelowna’s
Marriage of Figaro and the Lake of Tears, as well as a 9th place finish for
the first ever international makeup artist competition with L’Oréal Paris
in Canada, as well as other work in and around the Central Okanagan.

For those interested in attending the Okanagan Arts Awards gala evening on
Saturday, May 28th, tickets are $20 per person and are available for
purchase at artsco.ca.

The Award gala evening, which begins at 7pm, features performances by
Wildson , Kelly Derrickson, Leah West, Anna Jacyszyn, Loni Moger and
Stephen Buck, Aaron and Graham Ord, Lucy Hazelwood and a grand finale with
The Trips, topped off with the OAA Afterparty with DJ Wolfhous.
