Salary: $58,916 starting, increasing to $67,320 per annum
Royal BC Museum, Victoria, British Columbia

Reporting to the Archives Manager, this position is responsible for
providing expert knowledge about archival and other historical records in a
variety of formats. This position conducts original research both as an
integral part of the acquisition and processing of records and the provision
of reference and information services as well as for the purpose of
publication, presentations and other forms of access.  As well, this
position also coordinates the organization's response to the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission and undertakes research, provides access and
creates connections related to the province's First Nations history and
communities.  

The ideal candidate has a passion for archival material and will be fluent
in current BC historiography and the social value of public archives in a
constitutional democracy.  They will have a strong understanding and
practical application of archives best practices, care and handling
procedures.  They enjoy working with a variety of people at all levels
inside and outside the organization, are keen to introduce others to the
archives and participate in learning program and are known for building and
maintaining strong personal and professional relationships.  They have a
positive attitude and have a demonstrated high level of customer and
results-oriented service.   

Qualifications include a Master's degree in Archival Studies or Library &
Information Services; or a Master's in History, Political Science or related
field.  You will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in an archives
institution appraising, arranging and describing archival records in all
formats including digital.  As well, you will be comfortable working in open
source technologies.
