[BCMA] piano looking for a new home

Here is a piano with an interesting bit of history. It has been offered to Burnaby Heritage Village but we just do not have room for it.

The piano is marked "Clinton / Clinton, Can." Looking on the internet it appears that the W. Doherty Piano Company of Clinton, Ontario used Clinton as a brand for some of their pianos.

The piano and a medal were won by my Grandmother  Leah Merle Winter when she entered the Canada's Victory Loan Essay Contest in 1917.   Her prize was the medal and trip for her parents to go to Toronto and pick out the piano.  At the time they were living in Elgin County in Ontario.  The piano was used by she and her family for many years.  She met my Grandfather John Harry Corless at the Garson Mine in Sudbury, where she was a teacher and he was the Office Manager.  They married in 1922, and following the advice of "go west young man" they headed to Alberta first and then to Vancouver in about 1925.  Once they were settled in Vancouver, the piano was sent out by rail.  It has stayed in the family and been used by multiple generations to create music and entertain at all manner of gatherings.

The piano is playable. It is in Vancouver.
