Wanted: Dynamic Museum Docents!
North Vancouver Museum (209 West 4th Street, North Vancouver)

August 1, 2017, North Vancouver, BC - If you enjoy working with children, want to share your enthusiasm for history, or are looking to broaden your own experience, becoming a Docent for the North Vancouver Museum & Archives (NVMA) is an excellent opportunity. We offer substantial training, skill-building workshops, flexible shifts and a chance to learn more about North Vancouver's colourful history.

The NVMA's mission is to engage, strengthen and inspire our community by exploring history, connecting people and sharing ideas. Our latest exhibition Chief Dan George: Actor and Activist offer the students an opportunity to explore the story of one Indigenous leader and uncover aspects of traditional Coast Salish life. As a Docent you will encourage students to learn the significance of Chief Dan George's life and of how traditional cultures have continued and changed over time.

Requirements: An interest in history and working with children, a willingness to work as part of a team, a strong command of the English language and the ability to lead and communicate effectively to small groups of children. Criminal record check is required. Must be a permanent resident, Canadian citizen, or hold a valid work permit.
