*The most terrifying art exhibit Vernon has ever seen!*

*Thrills! Disaster! Nature gone mad!*

*Experience a nightmare of ecologic proportions!*

*All in glorious 4-colour ballpoint pen!*

For his most recent project in collaboration with the Allan Brooks Nature
Centre and the Caetani Cultural Centre, Fresh! AIR art and environment
artist Eric Button has focused on the ecological footprint of human
activity.

During May and June he has spent his time in Vernon exploring the area,
doing research and creating narrative drawings that depict both the small
and large-scale impacts humans have on our environment.

The imagery draws on a wide range of influences ranging from the idyllic
nature paintings of Allan Brooks and Robert Bateman, to the extravagant
film posters of exploitation cinema. All the drawings were meticulously
drawn with a ballpoint pen, a tool that was chosen for its ubiquity and
association with everyday human affairs.

Eric hopes that by commenting on the danger posed by climate change and
other human caused ecological impacts that he will draw attention to the
inability of people and governments to take these issues seriously.

Eric Button is an emerging artist living and working in Vancouver, British
Columbia. He holds a BFA with a major in Illustration from Emily Carr
University of Art + Design. Nature and Canadian culture are common themes
in his work, which he explores with a sense of humour and a touch of
cynicism.

*About the FreshAIR Residency*

The Caetani Cultural Centre (C3) partners with the Allan Brooks Nature
Centre (ANBC) for the Artist-in-Residence program entitled *Fresh!AiR,* a
themed program which centres on nature, culture, science, environment,
conservation and social issues. The ABNC collaboration is intended to serve
as a catalyst in broadening and enriching community awareness and the
understanding of art and sustainable biodiversity.

This residency includes an eight week stay at the Caetani Cultural
Centre and studio space at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre.

Major Allan Brooks was a distinguished bird artist with significant
contributions made through his art to the field of Ornithology. Community
organizations such as Allan Brooks Nature Centre and the Caetani Cultural
Centre offer opportunities for the Artists to base themselves in the
Okanagan Valley while focusing on their work and contributing to workshops,
presentations and/or exhibitions locally.
