I had to ask the local photography expert but here's the answer!
Very Cool!
That is an Autochrome Lumiére mounted in a Diascope!
A French patent from 1903, it was the principal colour photography process in use before the mid-1930's.

Hello BCMAers,
A member of the public brought by an artifact today that we need help putting a name to. It's thin case with a metal clasp. One half of the case holds a colour tinted glass plate negative and the other holds a mirror. When light is shone on the glass plate negative it reflects the image into the mirror, recreating the image but with a sense of depth. (Images attached of the item open.)
It'd be great to put a name to this artifact so we can search for other examples of it and put it into wider context. We've never seen anything like it before.
Cheers,
Eric Holdijk
