Museum hosts The Great Blue Heron Presentation & Book Signing

Do you have a birder, naturalist or photographer on your Christmas list? Then don't miss Rita Bos' Great Blue Heron Presentation & Book Signing on Saturday December 16th 1:00-3:00pm at the Greater Vernon Museum & Archives.

Nestled between Wal-Mart, residential complexes and industrial businesses sits over fifty Great Blue Heron nests high atop the cottonwood trees. Bos explains "Despite the Great Blue Heron's preference for seclusion, the Great Blue Herons have been calling Vernon home (seasonally speaking) for thirty years. In the spring of 2016, the Vernon Heronry was a seasonal home for seventy-five adults, with about two-hundred chicks later resulting."

As a tribute to Jan Bos, Rita's late husband and his passion for these majestic birds Rita and Susan Larson have pooled their photographs to create a beautiful pictorial fact paperback book about the Great Blue Heron at Vernon Heronry, with some Esquimalt Lagoon relatives (smaller Great Blues).

A perfect Christmas gift, The Great Blue Heron book will be available to purchase during the event for $18.00. Cash only please. All proceeds from the sale of the paperback go to the continued efforts of The Vernon Heronry Protection Society.
