Find true love at the Royal BC Museum this February
VICTORIA, BC-Let love of learning be your Valentine at the Royal BC Museum next month. With a new workshop series for adults, a Black History Month talk and a Valentine's party, there is much to love at the museum.

Go behind the scenes with museum experts at the Royal BC Museum's new adult workshop series, Unexplored Highlights of the Royal BC Museum<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/learn/adult-programming/unexplored-highlights-royal-bc-museum>. Explore big ideas through intimate conversations, dynamic lectures and exclusive visits to the collections. You'll have up-close access to Emily Carr's powerful painting Tanoo, Q.C.I. [T'anuu, Haida Gwaii] and dive deeply into the marine life of glass sponges.

The program will be informal, often hands-on, and always deeply engaged. See five superstar objects up close in the first workshop, discover how the meaning of an object changes over time in the second, learn how the museum collects items to represent such a large and diverse province in the third and go behind the scenes to see the collections on the fourth. The four-part series of workshops run on Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (February 3, 10, 17 and 24). Tickets are $150 per person for the series.

This month's family program, Wonder Sunday<https://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/learn/kids-families/wonder-sunday>, is about Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Dog. Explore the museum's Chinatown display, make paper lanterns and learn more about the animals of the zodiac. Join us on Sundays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (February 4, 11, 18 and 25). Included with museum admission or membership.

Celebrate Black History Month with a talk from Karen Alexander Hosahl of the Black History Awareness Society. Karen is a descendent of the Alexander pioneer family and will share the history of her family and of other black pioneers of the area. Live at Lunch: Black Pioneers in British Columbia<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/105160/live-lunch-black-pioneers-british-columbia> is on Wednesday, February 7 from noon to 1:00 pm. Admission is by donation.

Looking for a unique way to mark Valentine's Day? Why not mix love and science at Night Shift: Wild Romance<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/105629/night-shift-wild-romance> on Saturday, February 10 from 8:00 pm to midnight. Couples and singles alike are welcome. With live music, sex talks with scientists, a photo booth and more, there is something for everyone. Tickets are $40 (10 per cent discount for museum members).

Spend Family Day (Monday, February 12) exploring the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. From 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm we'll be in the exhibition with photography-related activities<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/105186/family-day> for the whole family. Included with museum admission or membership.
