The Archival Association of British Columbia is pleased to invite proposals
for *Access and Accountability 2018*, a conference aimed at examining the
role of archivists and records managers in facilitating access and
promoting accountability through our records and information resources.



As the technological landscape changes and provides new opportunities, how
can archives and records professionals improve access to reliable records
and information? What are our responsibilities concerning access? How can
we involve stakeholders in making access decisions? Which practices and
theories should be revisited?



We welcome papers, panels, presentations and posters on the topics of:



•           Ethical considerations for providing access

•           Donor agreements, copyright, and other challenges to access

•           Privacy and Freedom of Information

•           Accountability and the Duty to Document

•           The role of community in access decisions

•           Truth and Reconciliation

•           Digital archives

•           Resources and technology solutions for small archives

•           Any other topic related to the conference theme



Submissions must include:


•               title

•               type and length of presentation

•               abstract of the proposed paper or panel (max 300 words)

•               brief bio statement(s)

•               contact information



Submissions are due by Friday, February 9th by email to the Conference
