Hello,

The Kelowna Museums has recently reassessed their collections policy and are putting more of a focus on objects of local significance. We are in the process of deaccessioning objects from our substantial ethnographic collection. The first stage was undertaken last year by our summer students, who cataloged around 400 objects from Pacific Islands (primarily Papua New Guinea), Africa, New Zealand, Australia, South America, and Indonesia. There is a wide variety of objects: jewelry, spears and other weaponry, wood carvings, tourist trinkets and some clothing.

Please contact me, nbose at kelownamuseum.ca<mailto:nbose at kelownamuseum.ca>, by October 20, 2018 if you are interested in seeing an inventory or photographs of the objects. The objects are available for transfer to other museums and heritage or public institutions. Recipient museums are asked to cover any mailing and shipping costs.

Thank you,
Nikki
