[Apologies for cross posting]

Hi all,

According to Robert R. Janes, "We have now passed the milestone level of 400 parts per million of climate-warming carbon in the atmosphere… for the first time in human existence – without even an outcry by the citizenry.[1] <https://coalitionofmuseumsforclimatejustice.wordpress.com/2017/04/19/the-elephant-in-the-room/#_edn1> The 400ppm threshold is a dire wake-up call, and our profound, global challenge is to reduce our carbon emissions by 80% by 2050, in order to forestall the worst impacts of climate disruption. Judging by the results so far, we are failing miserably.” https://coalitionofmuseumsforclimatejustice.wordpress.com/2017/04/19/the-elephant-in-the-room/ <https://coalitionofmuseumsforclimatejustice.wordpress.com/2017/04/19/the-elephant-in-the-room/>

What is your museum doing to reduce its carbon footprint? How are you informing and mobilizing your communities to reduce theirs - or even to make more significant changes? The Coalition of Museums for Climate Justice is gathering stories and case studies of museums making a difference. Although open to all ideas, we are particularly interested in how you are:
“Greening” museums internally like alternate power, recycling/reuse projects, LEED certified buildings, and so on.

Informing and mobilizing the public about climate change/climate justice issues through exhibits, programs, events like climate change exhibits, science marches, public debates, citizen science, and so on, as well as community partnerships.

A story or case study is usually pretty short - only about 500 words. We’re hoping a good story or case study will help other museums, galleries, historic sites, archives, science centres … of all shapes and sizes to help us all, Canadian museum workers and museums, to build public awareness, mitigation and resilience in the face of climate change. See some great stories of change here https://coalitionofmuseumsforclimatejustice.wordpress.com/climate-action-stories-case-studies/ <https://coalitionofmuseumsforclimatejustice.wordpress.com/climate-action-stories-case-studies/>

Look forward to hearing from you!
