[BCMA] Job Opportunities for students at the QuesnelMuseum

The Quesnel & District Museum and Archives has two positions available for students.

Dates:  May 15 - September 1
Hourly rates:  $13.55 + $1.20 in lieu of benefits + 4% vacation

The Curatorial Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to a number of ongoing projects, which will provide the student with an understanding of a broad range of museum operations including collections registration, exhibit development and digitizing and indexing a photograph collection.  The student will undertake interviews to record life stories and document the growth of community organizations.

The Education and Events Co-ordinator assists with the delivery of education programs and outreach activities during community festivals.  He she will be responsible for planning and implementing a children's activity day and will assist with developing  two 1- 1 1/2 hour programs on specific themes intended for the home school and possibly day care market. He or she will also prepare promotional material and social media content for the museum's web and Facebook pages.

Both students assist with daily operations (visitor reception, gift shop sales, research requests, exhibit maintenance, special events) and have the opportunity to select an individual project.

These positons are partially dependent on grant funding and applicants must qualify for the Young Canada Works program.  We happily work with students to fulfill requirements for co-op credits.
