Dear BCMA members:
I wanted to share with you a message from a consultant working with the
Alberta Museums Association on collecting research related to
deaccessioning museum collections.

If you have experience / or interest in this topic and would like to share
your thoughts, please consider completing the online survey
<https://members.museumsassn.bc.ca/publicFr/form/index/7f0c0c32ebac9f06176667951a62744b60ce5b4b>
by
April 23. It should only take 10-15 minutes.

More information about the project is below:

A consortium of museums and related organizations are undertaking a
research project on Policy and Best Practice for museum deaccessioning and
disposition. The project is funded by the AMA and the committee includes
representatives from the Galt Museum, the Esplanade Arts and Heritage
Centre, the Museum of the Highwood, Glenbow Museum, Athabasca University’s
Heritage and Resources Management Program and the Alberta Museums
Association.

The research consultant, Sandra Morton Weizman, is sending out this survey
on the committee’s behalf. The hope is to create more specific guidelines
on some of the thorny issues that museums of all sizes encounter related to
this topic. A final report will be made available through the AMA by the
fall of 2019 and the report and results will also be shared with the BC
Museums Association.
Your participation is entirely voluntary. If you have any questions, please
contact Sandra Morton Weizman directly at weizman at telusplanet.net.

Thank you for supporting this important research project.

All the best,
Anissa
