Hello West Coast,

I’m happy to hear this has turned out well for the Mission Community Archives. How Foothills Systems (Stelterr Factory Direct) has handled the closing of that part of their business is abysmal. I had called them up to confirm they closed when Canadian Museum and Library Supply started sending out emails about Foothills closing and the representative on the phone wasn’t upfront about it. It took a few direct questions before they finally admitted that Foothills had closed down. It all seemed pretty sketchy.

The below email reminded me about this and this morning when I checked their website, to find it still going strong. They could at least put up a notice they weren’t operating anymore. I have contacted the company their domain is registered through as well as the company that hosts their website. Maybe they can do something.

GOOD NEWS STORY….
A very special thanks to Gaylord Archival and the excellent customer service provided by their staff Sandy Bellor and Paul Randall, Archival Sales Manager! Last week the Mission Community Archives received the balance of our archival supplies order pre-paid to Foothills Systems in Calgary which unexpectedly closed. It was the best possible outcome for our institution which had raised the $4,728 to buy the supplies.

I want to take this opportunity to let others know that you now have the choice of purchasing archival supplies directly from Gaylord Archival which is currently working on how to optimize their services for Canadian customers. Paul Randall stated in an email to me that Gaylord “will no longer be forwarding email or web orders from Canadian customers onto ANY reseller.” If you have any questions, please contact Sandy Bellor Sandy.Bellor at gaylord.com<mailto:Sandy.Bellor at gaylord.com> or Paul Randall paul.randall at gaylord.com<mailto:paul.randall at gaylord.com?subject=International%20Inquiry&body=Please%20provide%20the%20information%20below%20and%20a%20member%20of%20our%20experienced%20international%20staff%20will%20contact%20you%20directly.%0A%0AYour%20Name%3A%0AName%20of%20your%20institution%3A%0AYour%20address%3A%0AYour%20phone%20number%3A%0AAny%20questions%20you%20may%20have%3A%0A>.
