Works – Building Careers in Heritage program to hire an *Indigenous
Programming  Intern. *Please share with your networks.

Two Rivers Gallery, the centre for art and creativity in Northern BC, is
hiring an *Indigenous Programming  Intern*. The position provides a unique
opportunity for a *recent **post-secondary graduate** to intern with the
Gallery’s team. Two Rivers Gallery is seeking a recent post-secondary
graduate to intern with Two Rivers Gallery. The *Indigenous Programming
Intern will work with our programming and curatorial departments and play
an important role in the Gallery’s day-to-day activities. With
extensive training
the Indigenous Programming Intern will focus on four main areas of
activity: Exhibitions Installation, Exhibition Interpretation, Community
Programming and Relationship Building.



Individuals who have completed work placements at Two Rivers Gallery in the
past have gone on to successful careers in education, curatorship and
community development.  All the skills this student develops will be
transferrable to any field. The position of Indigenous Programming Intern
will provide valuable project management experience for this recent
graduate, enhancing employability, while providing experience in art
gallery curation.  This internship will provide opportunities to work and
network with professionals in the field in a small, creative and inclusive
team environment.



*This position is full time, 37.5 hour week, for 26 weeks from **September
16, 2019 to March 13, 2020**. The rate of pay is $18.00/hour.*



Two Rivers Gallery hires students through a fair and balanced selection
process. The Gallery is interested in hiring young Canadians from other
parts of the country and/or with other languages in addition to English. We
encourage LGBTQ+, persons with disabilities and visible minorities to
apply. *Priority will be given to individuals who self-identify as
Indigenous.*



*The qualified applicant must be:*

•                 a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have
refugee status in Canada; Note: Non-Canadian students holding temporary
work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.

•                 legally entitled to work in Canada;

•                 be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of
employment;

•                 willing to commit to the full duration of the work
assignment;

•                 will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a
week**) while employed with YCW;

•                 an unemployed or underemployed college or university
graduate, that is, not employed full-time;

•                 a recent graduate who has graduated from college or
university within the last 24 months at the start of employment;

•                 not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while
employed with YCW;

•                 have not previously participated in or been paid under
this or any other Career Focus internship program funded under the
Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy.

The Indigenous Programming Intern will be working in Prince George, BC,
“the Volunteer City” and business centre of the north. With a population of
approximately 75,000, Prince George is the only community in northern BC
that offers the amenities and benefits of a thriving city within mere
minutes of beautiful, pristine forests and lakes. Two Rivers Gallery serves
the city and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, which includes
the rural communities of McBride, Mackenzie and Valemount.
