*ICOMOS International Scientific Committee Conference/Gathering on
Indigenous Cultural Heritage*
*Co-hosted with UBC First Nations House of Learning*
*November 13-15, 2019*
Respecting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous
Peoples (UNDRIP), the *ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Theory
and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration of World Heritage is
co-hosting with UBC First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) a forum for
dialogue on Indigenous Peoples’ rights “to maintain, protect and develop
the past, present and future manifestations of their cultures, such as
archaeological and historical sites, artefacts, designs, ceremonies,
technologies and visual and performing arts and literature”.
This forum offers Indigenous peoples opportunities to play significant
roles in the process of defining the scope and nature of an Indigenous
Heritage site or contribution. The forum, which takes place at UBC FNHL,
provides a safe and respectful opportunity for dialogue and consultation.
November 13-15, 2019.
*The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is an UNESCO
organization and advisory body to the World Heritage Committee.
