Hello everyone!
I wanted to draw your attention to a few events happening in Duncan BC next
week. Details and registration info is below.
· *Care of Objects in Indigenous Cultural Centres* – a two-day
workshop (October 16 & 17) with special guest instructors from the Canadian
Conservation Institute in Ottawa. The workshop looks at the preservation of
Indigenous material culture and is designed as an introduction to the care
of collections for staff working in Indigenous cultural centres. This
workshop is presented by the BC Museums Association in partnership with the
Cowichan Tribes. Registration is available on BCMA's Brain:

· *Free public presentation by the Canadian Conservation Institute *–
Cowichan Valley residents are invited to attend a free public lecture
presented by the Canadian Conservation Institute. The presentation will be
held on October 17, 7-9pm at the Ramada Inn, Duncan. This special event is
the kick-off to the Heritage Symposium scheduled for Friday, October 18.
No registration required.
· *A Warmland Heritage Workshop*– Hosted by the Cowichan Valley
Museum & Archives and Economic Development Cowichan, CVRD, in cooperation
with Heritage BC, Cowichan Tribes, and the BC Museums Association, A
Warmland Heritage Workshop is themed around linking heritage stories. The
purpose of the day long event, held on October 18, is to invite heritage
representatives and local government to think differently about the concept
of heritage storytelling and how best to support heritage. The event will
provide examples of how shared history, First Nations heritage and today’s
visitor preferences play a role in a contemporary storytelling. A limited
number of tickets are still available for this free event. See
