Hello everyone,
In yesterday's Watercooler Wednesday we had questions come up about how
organizations with access to 3D printers can help create things to support
the fight against COVID-19. I reached out to some contacts in BC's maker
community and I'd like to pass along some suggestions.
*"For personal protective equipment that is non-hospitals or front line
health, ie. community care workers, midwives, vets or inquires from the
community for this type of shield, I would suggest I would volunteer/offer
printer sign up with bcc3d.ca <http://bcc3d.ca/>*
*2. There is also an initiative the Open Source Covid19 Medical Supplies
BC (OSCMSBC) that is a more formalized and also following from global open
source movement (OSCMS), committed to bringing together the right groups to
file the requests of a variety of health care needs. We are working on
sorting out fed regulatory paths, province procurement, academic offers,
design control, and specs, supply chain and manufacturers certifications
and capacity in the province.*
*Here is main document for OSCMS-BC

and
as I am in a process and documentation role, happy to answer further
questions. We do need volunteers, particularly if there is experience with
doing forms and filings for applying for non-profit status - please send
over or have them contact me (kate at replik8.ca <kate at replik8.ca>)
(forrest.katharine at gmail.com <forrest.katharine at gmail.com> or 250.524.0345)
and I can make sure they get onboarded and into the right slack channel.*

Kate is a Victoria-based 3D printing-expert who has done work with museums
in the past. If you have specific questions about how best to use your
resources in the fight against COVID-19, I'd encourage you to get in touch
with Kate.
All the best,
Ryan
