[BCMA] To charge or not to charge

Hi John,

Two year ago we raised the same question on this question on this listserv and it generated lively conversation. It seems most of us face questions around admissions policy from time to time! We summarized what was learned in a brief report which was shared with members and which I will send directly to you. Our decision: keep going with admission by donation while at the same time making it easier and more desirable to donate.

Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association Pioneer Museum in Chilliwack is re-opening for one day a week.  For many years we have had a sign saying admission by donation.  We are considering charging a minimal fee for entrance to our main building.  Our numbers have been going up over the  last few years and our donations have increased considerably, but we wonder if we are shortchanging ourselves by not charging.
Any ideas or opinions on this issue would be much appreciated.
