The Yukon Historical & Museums Association is conducting research on
municipal property tax abatement for museums. If your museum owns the
property on which it is located and receives property tax abatement from
your municipality, they would be interested in hearing from you. Please
contact Lianne Maitland, Executive Director, at info at heritageyukon.ca with
answers to the following questions:
1. In what municipality is your museum located?
2. What level of property tax abatement do you receive? (e.g. 100%, 50%, up
to a certain amount, etc.)
3. What form does this tax abatement take? (e.g. exemption, taxes are
granted back to your institution, etc.)
4. What steps are required to receive tax abatement?
5. To your knowledge, do other museums and/or other non-profits/charities
in your municipality receive similar abatement?
YHMA extends its thanks for any information you can provide.
Sincerely,
Lianne Maitland
