The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) is excited to announce that Andy Lowe, CEO of Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and Heritage, Aotearoa (New Zealand), will deliver the keynote presentation for Conference 2020!

About the Conference
Join delegates from across Alberta and beyond on Thursday, September 17, for Vital Operations: Museums and Organizational Sustainability<https://conventionall.swoogo.com/abmuseums2020/>. This virtual event will examine the initiatives, strategies, and practices museums and cultural institutions undertake to build for the future.

About the Keynote: Museums without Boundaries
Inclusion and accessibility are buzzwords for museums. Who do we really mean? How can we matter more to more people? In this keynote, Andy will explore how museums can have fun with activism and community takeover.

About the Keynote Speaker: Andy Lowe
Andy (he / him) is all about noticing who is at the table and in the room. He welcomes in friends and whānau, Māori as mana whenua, and Pasifika and others to co-author museum spaces. This includes LGBTQIA+, activists, migrants, artists, people with disabilities, youth, circus and street performers, some from vulnerable and marginalized parts of our neighbourhoods - there’s room for everyone. Andy spent 14 years in exhibition development and construction at the bi-cultural national museum, Te Papa Tongarewa, and has been the CEO of Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and Heritage for 8 years.
