Hi Cathy,

You've gotten a number of great responses, but I wanted to highlight for
everyone that Heritage BC has a collection of resources on accessibility
for historic places here: https://heritagebc.ca/resources/accessibility/
which may be helpful to you throughout this process.

As to your specific question, I would suggest getting in touch with your
local disability resource centre. They may know of people in the community
who have feedback or would be willing to go through the museum with you.
You can also look into adding a question like "What would make the museum
more accessible for you?" to any visitor surveys you do (and ask this
question of everyone who gets the survey). You could also send a survey to
your members/ email list. I would suggest using as many approaches as
possible, since every person with a disability has different experiences,
needs and viewpoints.

I am also more than happy to discuss any and all questions you have about
the above or accessibility more broadly.

Best,
Laura

As an organization of provincial scope, Heritage BC recognizes that its
members, and the local history and heritage they seek to preserve, occupy
the lands and territories of B.C.’s Indigenous peoples. Heritage BC asks
its members to reflect on the places where they reside and work, and to
respect the diversity of cultures and experiences that form the richness of
our provincial heritage.
