[BCMA] JOB POSTING Full-Time Programs Assistant In-Training

Hello!

We have an open position at the Fraser River Discovery Centre: Programs Assistant In-Training. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a career in education, museum studies and/or public programming, as well as interested in working in a heritage, cultural, educational, or non-profit setting. This is an In-Training position, so people with all levels of experience are encouraged to apply! I've attached the full job posting to this email.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Education Coordinator, the Programs Assistant works with both programs and visitor services. They assist with the delivery of school and public programming, birthday parties, and special events; manage all bookings and payment for both programs and site rentals; and assist with the management of the volunteer program. When not delivering programs, they cover the front desk reception area, which includes admission, gift shop sales, and general visitor services. Further duties include daily opening and closing procedures, and maintaining the safety and security of the FRDC facility.

As an In-Training position, candidates will be screened based on interest in the fields of education, museum studies and/or public programming; interest in heritage, cultural, educational, and/or non-profit settings; and relevance to future career. Candidates will not be screened solely on previous experience. Proof of relevant experience from non-professional sources is encouraged (e.g. supporting younger family members, managing the schedule of a leisure club, assisting with a family business, etc.). The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training in the areas of responsibility outlined in the full job description.

HOURS:
*             37.5 hours/week; typically Tuesday to Saturday
*             Must also be flexible to cover rentals, weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts
RATE:     $17.00 - $19.00/ hr plus 4% in lieu of vacation
START DATE:  September 2020
