Hello everyone,
Our friends at Heritage BC asked us to share this message with our members.
By sending Heritage BC information about shovel-ready heritage projects,
you're helping to advocate for critical funding and the economic
stimulation of our communities:
"Last week, Heritage BC joined the National Trust for Canada and 21
national, provincial and territorial organizations in sending a letter to
five federal Ministers. This letter recommended at least $200 million in
stimulus funding to unlock billions of dollars in capital construction and
other investments at older/heritage buildings. It is now time to build our
case to show that these investments will capitalize on shovel-ready
projects, create new green jobs, spur private investment and contribute to
community resiliency over the long term.
Your voice is needed to help us with this ‘ask’ and we are looking for
projects in two categories:
- Construction projects at older and heritage places – repair,
additions, retrofit, emergency stabilization work – that is ready to go to
tender or ready to start work
- Planning and design work for heritage construction projects (the
goal of this work would be to create immediate jobs in the planning and
design fields, and future construction work with more jobs within the
coming year.
Please fill out this form
<https://nationaltrustcanada.ca/what-you-can-do/advocacy-action/shovelreadyheritage-projects-form>
to describe projects you believe are shovel ready (as you would describe
the term). You can also email me directly if that is easier for you. We
would like information such as:
- The place-name
- Ownership: public, private, non-profit
- Name of federal MP or riding
- Estimated dollar value (take your best guess)
- Estimated jobs on the worksite (take your best guess)
- additional outcomes (e.g. training, affordable housing, energy
conservation, sustainability, economic generation, and so on)"
