Collections Technician - Internship


The Richmond Museum seeks a creative, professional, positive and organized individual to work as a part of our Curatorial Collections Team. This position is based out of London Heritage Farm (6511Dyke Road, Richmond).

Responsibilities:

*         Assess a 5000+ artefact collection focused on agricultural and household objects.

*         Accession artefact collection and make recommendations for deaccessioning.

*         Interview community members about the history of the collection.

*         Research the history of the London Farmhouse.

*         Write reports and create and execute plans.

*         Undertaking general collections management activities as required.



Skills Required

*         Intermediate to advance skill with databases.

*         Excellent writing skills.

*         Superior organizational and planning skills.

*         Ability to work independently.

*         Demonstrated experience working with primary and secondary sources.


Qualifications Required:

*         Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in a related field (history, archeology, anthropology).

*         An interest in pursuing a career in the Museum & Heritage field.

*         Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Museum or Archival Studies an asset.

*         Previous work or volunteer experience with artefact collections an asset.

*         Must meet the YCW eligibility requirements.

HOURS OF WORK:           November 2 -March 19 | 35 hours per week | $21.00/hour
