Dear Friends,

Please join us for a very special event to kick off the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Jewish Historical Society of BC, governing body of the Jewish Museum and Archives of BC.

We are thrilled to welcome as our AGM Keynote Speaker Dr. Elizabeth Shaffer, Executive Director of the Residential School History & Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia and Assistant Professor at the UBC School of Information.

In her talk, “Museums as Spaces of Dialogue and Disruption,” Dr. Shaffer will interrogate the complicated history of museums and archives, and contemplate how these institutions could better serve their communities. In a year when museums, archives, monuments, and public history as a whole has come under renewed public scrutiny, it has never felt more urgent to question where we’ve come from and where we’re headed.

We hope you will join us for this compelling, thought-provoking, (and free!) event and will spread the word to your members and supporters.
