Come Join the Visitor Experience Team
At Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
We are seeking dynamic individuals who will play a key role in enhancing
the experience of visitors at the Garden by developing and delivering
interpretive tours and providing above average customer service at the
admissions desk. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience
working with the public in a tourism-related attraction, a proven
ability to communicate with visitors in a fun and engaging manner and
the flexibility and initiative required to jump in and assist the team
where needed!
These are full time and part time summer positions within the Visitor
Experience area of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden,
reporting to the Operations Manager. You will have a
non-standard/flexible work schedule which includes weekend, holidays and
evening work required. Ideal candidates will be available to continue on
in a part time capacity after the summer.
Duties:
· Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of cashiering and
ticketing services
· Open and/or close the facility, which includes cash count, bank
deposit, balancing or reconciliation of daily records, setting/disarming
security system, etc
· Deliver interpretive tours to an international audience
· Assists with set-up, dismantling, and clean up of special events
· Performs general on-site maintenance and housekeeping duties
· Answers general enquiries regarding all aspects of the Garden’s
activities and events
· Maintains a professional and co-operative relationship with guests,
staff, and volunteers
· Other duties as required
Qualifications:
· Experience working with the public in a museum/cultural centre
environment
· Must have excellent communication skills (fluent in English); a second
language is an asset
· Experience handling cash and credit payments
· Team player with strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to deal effectively with emergency situations
· Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Outlook)
· Ability to represent the Garden with a high degree of professionalism
and enthusiasm
· Team player, energetic, and dependable.
· Must be presentable and well-groomed.
· Interest and/or knowledge of Chinese culture and history.
· Candidates must be eligible under the HRDC Student Summer Works
program: applicants must be between the ages of 15-30, a Canadian
citizen, and returning to school F/T the following term
Wage: $8.25/hr plus 4% vacation pay. Deadline for application April 30 2007
