Hello Jan,
It's running close but I thought I forward our event for the Heritage BC
website.
*/The Historic Stewart Farm Salutes Our Musical Heritage for Heritage
Week 2007/*//
Ever hear a melodeon, see a violin being constructed or been up close
and personal with a vaudevillian?
On Saturday, February 24, 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, at the Stewart Hall
come and see musicians, craftsmen and vaudevillians who will transport
you to another era as they recreate the local musical heritage of the
late 1890's.
Violin Maker Ken Porterfield from Burnaby will be onsite, sharing the
secrets of this highly-skilled craft as he works on instruments.
Special guests will be "Savoir Faire", with Oliver Schneider on the
melodeon, a small button accordion, joined by Mike Dowler on clarinet.
Members of the Society for the Preservation of Vaudeville will get you
giggling as they perform songs and skits from long ago.
The Stewart farm house volunteers will offer guided tours, hot cider and
baking from the woodstove. Children can make simple crafts. Stroll
around the park grounds and view the early signs of spring and visit our
local Blacksmith and see the root cellar, pole barn, heritage garden and
orchard.
