Job Posting - Program Developer, Vancouver Police Museum
The Vancouver Police Centennial Museum is operated by the Vancouver Police Historical Society, a non-profit society and registered charity. The mandate of the museum is to foster interest in the history of the Vancouver Police Department and to deliver educational programs that focus on crime prevention and the science of police work (forensic science).
Working under the supervision of the Museum Programmer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
. assisting with the research and development of new educational and public programs
. creating supporting materials including, pre- and post- visit activities, vocabulary and program evaluations
. assisting with the development and implementation of a marketing plan for new programs
. recruiting and training volunteers to assist in program delivery
. delivering educational programs to elementary, secondary and ESL students
. conducting walking tours and guided tours of the museum
. greeting visitors to the museum, collecting admissions and handling gift shop sales
Requirements:
. currently enrolled as student in education, communications, history, museum studies, or other related field
. excellent communications and interpersonal skills
. computer literacy
. ability to work both independently and in a team
. ability to think creatively
. between 16 and 30 years of age and registered in the Young Canada Works candidate inventory
. willing to commit to working 35 hours per week from July 7 - September 1, 2007 and part-time in the fall
