5th Annual Wearable Art Gala on March 29, 2008 *

The WEARABLE ART GALA presented by the Alternator Gallery is back at the 
Rotary Centre for the Arts this year with the fifth edition of a growing 
phenomenon. Each year the audience is bigger and the party is better.

Wearable Art, for the uninitiated, is an experiment in moving art; art 
carried by the body. The dynamics of objects, the textures of grass, 
bone and plastic and the spectacle of 'showtime' combine for an evening 
of eccentric, portable design. This is not a fashion show. Last year we 
took over the hallways of the RCA, this year we're taking over the 
building with extreme, wearable art. There will be live installations in 
surprising corners, performers mingling with the spectators, and 
delectable, organic treats. After the show, we're planning to party 
until the wee hours.

The Alternator Gallery, located in the Rotary Centre for the Arts, is 
Kelowna’s only artist-run centre. It has a national reputation as an 
innovative space for contemporary artists and showcases exhibitions, 
performances and screenings that cannot be seen elsewhere in the B.C. 
Interior.
