Here's what's up and coming at your Kelowna Museums this July! From the
annual Cherry Fair to tours of the Myra Canyon archaeological site,
July's events are not to be missed!
*The Okanagan Heritage Museum is pleased to present a public talk with
Barry Sanford on Wednesday, July 17^th at 7:00pm. *Sanford is the author
of several books on the Kettle Valley Railway, including /McCulloch's
Wonder/ and /Steel Rails and Iron Men/. Join the author and local KVR
expert for a public presentation on his research of the railway.
Admission is by donation. Please call 763-2417 for more information.
The BC Orchard Industry Museum presents its annual fundraiser and family
favourite event. *The 13^th Annual Cherry Fair takes place Saturday,
July 19^th 10:00am-3:00pm inside the Laurel Packinghouse.* Kids of all
ages will enjoy the selection of sweet treats and hands-on activities.
Sample a selection of locally grown cherries at the Cherry Tasting Booth
and buy a bag of cherries to take home! There will be cherry pie, cherry
ice cream, and fresh chocolate dipped cherries. Live entertainment all
day long provided by Haute Aire, the Old Time Fiddlers, and the Westsyde
Squares. Tickets at the door. $2 per person or $5 for a family of four.

Step into local history and enjoy the great outdoors this summer. *The
Kelowna Museums are offering half-day guided tours of the UBC-Okanagan
archaeological site on July 26^th and August 9^th .* Your Kelowna
Museums guide will take you on a tour of the archaeological excavation
site at Trestle #8 along KLO Creek where UBCO students will be working
to uncover evidence of the Kettle Valley Railway construction era. Tours
meet at 10:00am in the Myra Canyon parking lot and end at noon. Call
868-4836 for more information or to reserve a spot on a tour. Cost is
$15 per person, or $10 per person for Kelowna Museums members.
