always challenging. Imagine joining a team made up of people who do more
than just see a great future for the City of Surrey --- they actively

Growth here is occurring at an enormous rate. There's never a dull
moment and to ensure our commitment to exceptional parks, recreation,
arts, and heritage services we are looking to hire an exceptional and
talented:
*Curator of Exhibitions & Collections*
*(Regular Full-time)*
The Surrey Art Gallery's mission is to engage the public in an ongoing
dialogue about issues and ideas that affect our community as expressed
through contemporary art, and to provide opportunities for the public to
interact with artists and the artistic process. It accomplishes these
aims through exhibitions, programs and publications of contemporary art.
The Gallery has proactively responded to new developments in art and has
provided visitors with opportunities to learn about and experience
contemporary art in all media from ceramics to digital technology.
The Curator of Exhibitions and Collections operates at an advanced
level, providing stewardship for the City's permanent art collection.
The Curator also assists in the research, development, and
implementation of contemporary art exhibitions and related community
programs and services for the Surrey Art Gallery.
You must display initiative and a positive attitude. Strong leadership,
public relations and communication skills are vital in this role. You
possess strong writing and public speaking skills and have experience
working with boards and committees. Dedicated to community development,
you are familiar with budget preparation, grant writing, administration,
staff supervision and comfortable working alongside artists.
Experience in creative marketing is essential and previous experience as
a museum/gallery Curator, as well as skills in community outreach,
exhibit design/implementation and a proficiency in technology are
recommended.
You must be a graduate from a recognized university program in a related
discipline and have 3 - 5 years of progressively responsible experience
in the delivery of cultural programs including facility management. An
equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Technical expertise applicable to the specific role is required.
Our workplace, the Surrey Art Centre, is centrally located and is set
amid a beautiful park environment. The Centre features an atrium-style
main entrance, a bright, spacious lobby, an outdoor courtyard with
reflecting pool, numerous gallery exhibit spaces, a Tech Lab, art
